Personal

I started my training in 1989 under Rodney Lowery. It was several years after I earned my Shodan, in 1992, that I heard about Sensei Nichols. I was truly amazed and overwhelmed at meeting him. Sensei has opened many doors for me in and outside Karate.

Karate is very challenging, but it is also very rewarding. If you are looking for a style to get into, I encourage you to come watch or participate anytime.
There is many reasons to join Katate. Whether it be:

Self-esteem
Self Defense
Exercise
Flexability
Mind and body control
Self Confidence
You will get this and much more.

Karate

I train with Ms. Camp
Down in Alabama
With my mom
With my friends
With hopes in my mind.

Even just the prospect
Seems grueling and hard
For remembering the hardships
Make my arms and legs ache.

The triumphs and failures
the trying, the losing
The learning the falling
But mostly the pride
All come to mind
When the determination sets in.

The training is hard
the learning is difficult
And fighting isn't easy
Even when you know how.

And there's the testing;
So long, so hard
The feeling
So strong
of breaking your limits

It's all worth it in the end
As a new color adorns your waist
And you know that you earned it.
YOU
No one else.
You learned from others
Sure
But YOU worked and YOU struggled
And now YOU are better.
                It's in the mind
In the body
In your blood and your soul
The determination sets in
The will, oh so strong
The desire to better oneself
For the good of all.

I'll tell you right now
Why I face difficult trials;
I do it for me
(the confidence, the strength)
But not me alone
I do it for others
Who face horrible days
Because thoshe who can't
fiight their own battles
Need someone who CAN
I'll protect other people
'Cause that's what I'm for
But harken
Once more
For I hold the belief:
If I can be strong enough
To make myself better
(In mind, body and spirit)
I can be strong enough
To make others better too.

For them and for me
For better or worse
I face all my trials
Reforge myself
My strength and my heart...
