Mrs Meg Gore
1st. Degree Black Belt

My son, Carson, started karate in first grade at Crestline Elementary with Sensei Mike Nichols.  He caught on fast and it was exciting to see him excel.  At the end of the school year, I decided to take him to the Center Point dojo twice a week so that he could continue his training over the summer.  It was a difficult step to take, but I decided to train with him at the dojo because it was something for us to do together.  I still remember my first class - before I even put on my uniform, Ms. Robyn White began teaching me my first kata, 27 movements.  It was so incredibly difficult; I thought I would never learn.  It turned out that learning karate was much more challenging than I had anticipated.  There were so many nights that I left the dojo holding back tears of frustration an embarrassment.  I persevered because of my desire to make my son proud, bond with him, and keep him involved in an sport that taught him self control and perseverance.  Just over 2 years after I started training with him, in August 2016, we both tested for our first degree black belts.  Receiving my black belt with my son was one of the proudest moments of my life.  Karate brings me outside my comfort zone every single time I train.  I still struggle to learn new katas and to put myself out there, but my experience has been that life begins at the end of my comfort zone.

I have been married to my husband, Chase, for 10 years, and we have two children, Carson and Cadelle.  I am an attorney, and I like to read, write, sew, run, lift weights, and learn and teach karate
