IKF Karate's"Why I Love Karate" Contest

Why do you love IKF Karate?

IKF Karate's "Why I Love Karate" contest began on March 9, 2009. It ran through April 19, 2009. Over the course of 6 weeks, we had 368 entries. All the entries can be read at The "Why I Love Karate" Blog. During the contest, we felt that it would be fair to split the entries into two divisions: adult and kids division.

Deciding a winner was a difficult process. We chose to decide a winner in each division in 2 phases. The first phase had me, the webmaster, pare down the entries to submit 5 finalists for each division. However, I instead submitted 15 entries for each division. That is a testament to the number of great entries we had. Once Sensei, Renchi DJ and Renchi Mike had these final 15 entries in hand, they found it just as difficult to pare those 15 down to 1 in each divison. All three read and re-read the final entries, and on Monday, May 6, Sensei and Renchi DJ read and re-read again the entries, and after alot of re-reading and consideration, they pared it down to 2 in each division.

From there, after again re-reading these final 2 in each division, our contest winners are:

In The Kids Division: The Winner Of The Set Of Sias Is:
Zahab Noor Aleezada, Vestavia Central Elementary.

In The Adult Division: The Winner Of The Set Of Sias Is:
Shihan Rachel Camp, Centerpoint Dojo.

In The Kids Division: The Winner Of A T-Shirt Of Their Choice:
Amanda Rice, Centerpoint Dojo.

In The Adult Division: The Winner Of A T-Shirt Of Their Choice:
Candy Franks, Albertville Dojo.

We would like to thank all of the students that entered the contest. Those that did not enter, but would like to submit an answer to the question, "Why I Love Karate" to add to the blog, you may E-mail it to me. Be sure to include your name, and the place that you train. Please only one submission per student.
