I love karate because of my instructer. He is so fun. Nothing is boring with him. And he will never let you get hurt when your sparing. If I didn’t have him as a instructor I don’t know what I would do. He is also hilarious. He is the best instructor in the whole intire world. He can also answer all of the question about karate. He is probably the nicest instructer. If you ever met him you would say this is the one I want. That is why I like karate so much.

I love to take karate because you get to do katas and I like katas because you get to use different tools, like a bow, nunchucks and you hands. I also like karate because at least five or six of my friends take karate, so I get to talk to and play with my friends( when I'm not actually doing karate or being quiet for my teacher,Renchi Norwood). Karate is also good exercise and I like to do kicks and punches. It's easy to do karate because it's at my school and I can go right after class without getting in the car and driving somewhere!

There are a lot of reasons why I love karate. One is my teacher is SOOOOO cool. He always chews gum and talks to me about Alabama football. I have learned a lot, he is a great teacher. Another reason is the uniform, especially the belts. I love taking the tests to get my next belt. The last reason I love karate is all my new friends. All different ages and sizes are at my school. I like it when the other belts help us practice. Karate is really fun and I love my IKF class.

When I was little, I took Kungfu for self-defense, and because my mom made me. Well, I ended up loving it because it was so easy. A couple of years later, I moved to Birmingham and started 4th Grade. That’s when I started Karate. From the first practice, I was hooked!! (“Hooked” meaning that I couldn’t pull away.)
Learning kadas, weapons, and sparing was and is the top 3 reasons why I Love karate. (Besides tournaments, of cours!) Getting new belts is always exciting! From 4th Grade to 5th Grade, I earned my way to a 2nd queue brown-belt stripe! I skipped a belt from white to blue on my first test! Tests aren’t usually my favorite thing about school or after-school activities, but there’s always an exception, considering that I don’t have to use a pencil, only my brain, memory, and 110% to earn my next belt. The tests are energetic and make you want to work hard and like you really can’t stand being still for more than 5 seconds. The best part about karate is that you will always have a way to defend yourself if you get in trouble. Also, I can scare boys I don’t like if they bother me while I’m trying to do something important, I can pretend to try and hurt them so they will leave me alone. The tournaments are long, but the trophies are worth it. Sparing is my best category because when I did kungfu, I had to spar harder and older kids. I did 2 tournaments in a row and got first place in sparing for each of them, and on the second tournament, I got to skip a belt because I got first. I got my green stripe and that made me happier than jumping in the pool on a hot summer day. So now you know why I Love karate. I love it for that I can use it wherever I go. I hope if you don’t take karate, you will consider taking it for the same reasons I took it. L. H. Liberty Park Elementary Sunday, May 3. 2009

Karate teaches the best work ethics. It improves my concentration and dedication to each and every task which I perform. My instructor has taught me the value of hard work, dedication and respect for elders. I am thankful to karate for teaching me the valuable lessons of life.

I love IKF karate for 3 simple reasons, the thrill of sparring, the many different weapons, and the respect you gain from others. Sparring is such a thrilling way of letting off steam from earlier in the day and at the same time, it teaches you valuable fighting skills, like learning from your enemy's moves and from your mistakes. The many different weapons are also an extremely fascinating thing. There are so many different kinds to choose from, and each one brings a different challenge with every new strike an kada to master, and i'm up to that challenge! Numchucks, bows, tonfas, theres so many more to choose from! Finally, I love IKF karate because you get treated with more respect. Not because the other people are afraid, but because they know of the true dedication and passion that person has for karate. (But they still know you can kick their but!)

Many people do football, basketball, baseball, and sports like these were you have a team to count on, but karate is not like these sports. In karate you are all alone, you have no teammates to count on, its just you, and at the same time you get exersize, and learn to respect adults and other people around you.
Also, in karate you learn how to defend yourself in bad situations, and get the opportunity to not only learn from your instructor, but learn from kids who are different ranks than you. You also can teach lower ranks than you, and sometimes even learn something from them. I have learned very much from karate, and will continue to keep learning. I do not plan on stopping karate any time soon, and I do plan in getting at least my 2nd degree black belt or even my 3rd. D. G. Liberty Park Elementary Saturday, May 2. 2009

When I started karate 2 years ago it taught me discipline, body structure, and how to control anger in my life. My karate teacher can be very helpful when I need it. For example, I am a brown belt and when I had trouble with my H-form number 4 he helped me. My friends in karate also help me with my H-forms and I at last saw the H or the I. I also like the tournaments even though I have not won. I still have a good time doing the kadas, my weapons and the sparing.

I love karate because Ren-Chi is a great teacher. He has taught me so much about karate. I really like learning new katas and weapons. Karate is fun and you make new friends. I love it even if I have to do pushups or leg lifts. I can't wait to be a black belt!
